Meet Daria Martin! Daria hails from New Roads, LA and earned her Accounting degree from Southern University in May 2001 and her Certified Public Accountant license in March 2004. She joined the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office in 2001 where she attained the position of Senior Auditor. Daria was responsible for conducting financial and compliance audits of state agencies and universities in conformance with professional auditing standards. Her attention to detail and analytical skills proved to be beneficial to the auditing process.

 

Daria also served as Coordinator of Business Services for the Louisiana Recovery School District (RSD). Her responsibilities included overall coordination, planning, and administration of the RSD-LA budget, serving as a liaison between RSD-LA and RSD-NOLA as related to all fiscal and associated matters.

Daria’s passion for education and finances led to her current position as Accountant Administrator for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). Serving in this role, Daria manages the fiscal operations of BESE and directs the financial and compliance audit activities for agencies receiving grant award funding from BESE. In addition, she is owner of Freedom Worth Financial Services and provides tax and consulting services on a part-time basis. Daria is also a member of the LA Government Finance Officers Association, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Beacon Light of Baton Rouge church.
